Tan Hui Ling

Co-Founder & Principal

Tan Hui Ling co-founded Malaysia Stock Loans to bring discipline and precision to the part of a transaction that decides whether it is sound: the documentation, the security, and the disclosure. She oversees the facility agreement, the share charge, and the custody arrangement on every engagement, and leads the firm's work on the questions that sit beneath a Bursa-listed pledge.

Her background is in structured finance, securities-backed lending, and Islamic finance, alongside legal and regulatory coordination. That combination matters in Malaysia, where a large share of Bursa counters are Shariah-compliant and where the choice between a conventional and a Shariah-compliant structure is a real one. Hui Ling maps that choice early, so a holder who prefers a Shariah-compliant facility — with the return expressed as profit rather than interest — can have one where the underlying counter supports it.

She is fluent in the mechanics that govern a Malaysian share-backed transaction: the borrower opens an account with the designated custodian, over which the lender takes security, where the collateral shares are held, and margin and corporate-action handling settled in the documents before funding. Any disclosure or regulatory obligations are confirmed by the client's own Malaysian legal counsel, engaged in parallel; the firm arranges and structures the transaction and does not act as the client's legal or regulatory adviser.

Hui Ling's focus is precision: ensuring each structure is sound before it ever reaches execution, with the recourse profile, the security, and the disclosure path all settled in advance. She works closely with the borrower's own Malaysian counsel, whom the firm encourages on every transaction, and keeps the documentation to what licensed counterparties genuinely require.

She works in English, Chinese, and Malay throughout. Nothing she writes here is investment or legal advice; it reflects her professional perspective on how Malaysian share-backed financing is built.
